Sorting out a property line mess

Hello everyone, landed here while looking for answers about a boundary dispute. My neighbor thinks my tree might be on their property and now they want a survey to prove it. The catch? They want me to pay half the cost. Not sure what the norm is in these situations, so I thought this group might have guys who've dealt with this before.

What are they wanting to do with the tree if it's on either side? And does the tree mean anything to you? Those are questions I'd ask myself and consider the price of the survey.

Thanks for the welcome and for giving me some food for thought. To clarify, the property is down in Texas. The neighbor wants to put up a new fence, and I suspect the tree is in the way but I like the shade it gives my yard.
