taking a stake survey or not?

My bf is about to take the plunge and buy a new home here in Oklahoma, and getting a survey done is definitely on his radar.
The surveyor gave him the option of getting it done with bells and whistles or just the plain survey. Skipping the stake survey can save him a cool two hundred bucks.

Now, the survey will be done a good month before we move our earthly possessions into the place, and I don't think he has any immediate plans to dig up the backyard or anything like that.
The question is, are there any other advantages in paying for those stakes, or will just the survey alone cut the mustard?

Any seasoned advice you can throw my way would be greatly appreciated!

You should make sure you are clear on your property lines because your home is probably one of the biggest investments you will ever make. Investing $200 to mark your property lines can help you avoid future conflicts with your neighbors, it's a small price to pay for peace of mind

If he's not building or fencing anytime soon, the plain survey is probably enough, for now but It could come in handy when you dont expect at times

The stakes are only really helpful if you need to physically see the property lines now. He can always add them later on if he plans change, so skipping them for now to save the cash makes sense actually.

Got it, stakes are great for quick clarity, but no sweat if you add them later when things shift.
