Lidar survey changing the way we do topography work

Been using aerial lidar survey for a while now but thinking of adding ground scanners to pick up more corridor details. With so much data available, does anyone still think traditional ground shots are necessary for topo work?

For sure! Ground scanners can definitely enhance corridor detail, especially under canopy or even in complex terrain, but traditional ground shots still kick ass particularly for verifying critical elevations, capturing features missed by lidar, and meeting high accuracy requirements. While lidar gives comprehensive coverage, ground shots provide very reliable ground truth and quality control thats hard to fully replace.

Absolutely! Ground scanners add precision in tough spots, but old-school shots still have their place when accuracy is non-negotiable. Lidar covers a ton, but nothing beats boots-on-the-ground verification when it really counts.
